Research Center In Process Engineering - BIOREFINERY

The Centre de Recherche en Ingénierie du Papier : CRIP, (Research Center in Pulp/Paper Engineering) was created in 2002 to replace the Groupe de Recherche en Science et Ingénierie du Papier : GRESIP, (Research Group In Sciences & Pulp/Paper Engineering). Recently, CRIP was developed to cover state-of-the-art applied engineering of biorefinery processes and the feasibility of integrating these systems into existing factories and industrial installations. The current initiative was hence named Centre de Recherche en Ingénierie de Procédés : CRIP-Bioraffinage (CRIP-Biorefinery).

CRIP-Biorefinery will focus on developing the potential for production of energy and hydrocarbons from urban biomass waste.

CRIP-Biorefinery is implanted within l’école Polytechnique de Montréal. The centre brings together several research and laboratory leaders at l’école Polytechnique de Montréal to create a multi-disciplinary biomass research pool and research chairs. Several industrial partners and government collaborators also contribute to the CRIP-Biorefinery centre.
