| Title: | Novel biomaterials (obtained by plasma treatments) |
| Description: | We use "cold" plasmas and vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) radiation to modify polymer surfaces and to deposit thin "polymer-like" films that are rich in functional groups capable of immobilising living cells and/or biomolecules. Those highly functionalised surfaces are used for cell culture and for tissue engineering, mainly in the areas of orthopaedic and vascular medicine. We are also active in the fabrication and use of micro-devices that enable one to study the behaviour of individual cells, for example under the influence of an electric field. |
