| Title: | Protein-enhanced Biomaterials / Biosensors |
| Description: | Within the same tissue, the various growth factor and receptor systems that exist regulate interactions between that tissue’s cells. These functions are usually regulated by complex mechanisms involving variations in molecules’ concentration and type of interaction. Despite remarkable advances in recent years, regenerative medicine still faces a lot of challenges. One of them is to improve the configuration of molecular processes connected with cell growth and differentiation. And this, in particular, requires a better understanding of growth-factor-related requirements. Drawing on the expertise of other researchers, we are looking to optimize the immobilization of growth factors on the surface of new polymers, taking a new approach based on the use of synthetic peptides. This approach will let us unite the properties of the new materials with the very specific features of the growth factors to promote rapid, controlled tissue regeneration. |
